HONG KONG, INDIA – Applications for Indian visas for Portuguese citizens and Indian visas for Hong Kong citizens are now available. The process is relatively straightforward and should not take more than a few minutes.
The Indian Visa Process

Documents that are required for the application include a valid passport, a recent passport-sized photograph, and proof of travel plans. The Consular officer will also require additional documentation if they deem it necessary.

How to Get an Indian Visa

- Wait for your visa to be processed and mailed to you. It can take up to two weeks for a decision to be made on your application.
In order to apply for an Indian visa, Portuguese and Hong Kong citizens will need to submit a number of important documents. Additionally, applicants may also be required to submit proof of onward travel and/or a hotel reservation confirmation.

Other information that may be required when applying for an Indian visa include copies of any previous visas, proof of onward travel, and a letter of invitation from a contact in India. The Consular Section of the Embassy of India in Lisbon is open from 9:00am to 1:00pm on weekdays, and the High Commission of India in Hong Kong is open from 9:00am to 5:30pm on weekdays.
If you are planning on staying in India for more than six months, you will need to obtain a residence permit. If you will be working while in India, you will need to have a work visa issued. Students who wish to study at an Indian institution of higher education should apply for a student visa. If you plan on traveling to India for business purposes, you will need a business visa.
When applying for an Indian visas, it is important that the application is filled out correctly and completely. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may result in delays in obtaining your visa.
