If you are a UK Citizen and you want to visit India, then you will require a visa. The Indian Visa requirements for UK Citizens vary depending on your nationality. Whether you are a British Citizen or not, the visa requirements for India are basically the same. However, there are a few exceptions which we will list below.
Indian Visa Requirements for UK Citizens

There are some exceptions to this rule – if you’re a student or an employee of an organisation that’s registered with the Indian government, you don’t have to apply for a tourist visa. You can travel to India without applying for a tourist visa if:
-You have a valid passport; and
-Your stay in India doesn’t exceed 60 days in any 180 day period.
If you’re travelling to India as part of your job, check with your employer first – some employers may require that you obtain a work permit before travelling to India. If you don’t have any recent employment or travel records in India, you may be required to provide additional documentation before traveling.
Indian Visa Requirements for British Citizens
The Indian government has recently updated their visa requirements for British citizens. British citizens must now have a valid passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the dates of your intended stay in India. Additionally, you must have a return ticket and proof of accommodation if you are intending to stay more than 60 days. You will also need a visa application form and 1,000 rupees (about $15) to apply for a visa. How to Apply for an Indian Visa
If you are a British citizen and want to travel to India, the following steps will help you apply for an Indian visa:
- First, you will need to book a flight to India. Airlines that operate to India from the UK include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and Emirates.
- Once you have booked your flight, you will need to obtain a visa. The visa process can be completed in several ways, including through an Indian embassy or consulate in the UK or by applying online.
- After obtaining your visa, make sure to arrive in India well ahead of your planned travel date in order to avoid any delays at the airport.
How to Use a Indian Visa
If you are a British citizen, or have a residence permit in the UK, then you do not need to obtain an Indian visa. If you are not a British citizen, or do not have a residence permit in the UK, then you will need to obtain an Indian visa prior to travelling to India. There are three types of British visas that can be obtained: tourist visa, business visa, and student visa. The requirements for each type of British visa vary, but most require that you provide proof of your identity, travel documents (e.g. passport), and financial evidence (e.g. bank statement).
